Just some stuff…

So I was reading through some of my entries from this time last year. I like to do that every month – just to see if how life has changed in a year. I had to chuckle at myself, I was very freaked out about a class at the store that took a lot of time to prep. Like half my posts were about how I was never going to get this project finished. I’m thinking to myself – dude, I do projects of that caliber 2x a month every month. What a wimp I was. Oh and this year my children don’t nap, so my work time is half of what it was this time last year. So no more complaining about work load – ignore my last post about the master to do list. Next year the load will probably be even heavier, and I’ll chuckle about what a wimp I am now.
So my weekend was relatively unexciting. Picked up some stuff to make Christmas gifts with, I haven’t really started shopping for the kids yet. I picked out some stuff for my Dec. class at the store. I found some great reading material at the library (caution: tangent ahead) I seriously need to practice self-control when it comes to that place. I’m seriously thinking about putting myself on a library diet. I go in there to get idea books for my class projects (they have subscriptions to all the major scrapping magazines) – and come out with a huge stack of goodies, all of which seem more exciting than doing chores. Bad girl. But I found a really interesting book about the reality behind the myths of piracy (Black Beard, Long John Silver etc). Random, I know. But way more interesting than cutting paper for yet another class kit.
What else. Oh yeah, my special needs Bible study class got moved from Saturday night to Sunday morning. Which means that I’m no longer working with that group, because I’m already teaching on Sunday morning. Good for me, because it’s one less thing on my list of things to do. But really sad, because I miss working with my autistic boys. It means I’m going to have to choose between the groups when I sign up to teach next year. Kindergarten or special needs – the ability level is pretty similar. Believe it or not, it’s kinda hard to find people who will volunteer to teach these groups.

I think it must be hard to find volunteers to teach ALL groups. When I was doing a Bible study class on Sunday mornings I had real trouble getting a sub. The way I travel, it was a real headache. People don't realize that God only needs your BODY. He will do all the work. You do a little preparation, He runs the show. We are not capable of teaching His Word, even to kids. He does a heavenly job when we let Him.

I think I'd RATHER teach the autistic kids. They are often more intelligent and quite interesting (in smaller doses). I TOTALLY get what you mean about downsizing your commitments!!!
