Guess where we’ve been…

Over the weekend we took the kids to the apple orchard. Jory and I went with my parents, my brother, and his friend Billy. We had a ball picking (and eating) the apples, playing in the hayloft, and just chilling out. Alex loved bouncing in inflatable pumpkin, but the girls weren’t brave enough to try it this year. Between my dad and I we took 180 pics. Here another one… the thingy in the sidebar has some more… there were so many good ones to pick from I got tired of editing photos before I ran out of pics… that so figures.

Delayed reaction

Here are the pics from the weekend. Sorry they’re a little delayed… we’re having issues with our phone line again. But I think we have the lines cleared up (again)The first ones are of Alex camping with my parents.

These are people from church. We have Mike and Sophie – Sophie and Alex are in Sunday school together. And then there’s Miss Sarah – I taught VBS with her mom last summer – incase you cared.

Last warm weekend…

That’s what they said on the news… So we took advantage of it. Friday/Saturday my parents took Alex on his first camp out. He apparently had a ball sleeping in a tent and eating food that my mom had made over the campfire and doing all those other things I refuse to do. (Heh.) Have I mentioned my parents made me go camping one to many times as a child? The - walk half a mile to a port-a-potty, sleeping in the dirt, eating rats - type of camping. No thanks. It’s not a vacation if I have to work.
Sunday we had the church cook out at the park near our house. That was a lot of fun. Highlights include: finding a handful of frogs with Javas and Sara (not the same ol’ toads that hang around my yard), chatting with friends that I never get to talk to because I’m always too busy on Sunday morning, the girls both fell asleep in the baby swings, and a very grumpy Louisa who was mad that all her friends ate “her” cake and she didn’t get any. (rough life, I’m telling ya…)
So chores for today: prepping kits for a class that’s still 2 weeks away (but is already very full) working on a project that’s due on Saturday (ack!) baking another cake to appease Louisa the grump. School. And mopping a very disgusting kitchen floor. Think I’ll get it all done? Not if I’m sitting on this computer!

more chair pics

This is another one of those chairs that we've had as long as I can remember. I think this one came from my mom's side of the family, I'm sure mom will verify...

They might look sweet and innocent…

But my daughters are so stinking ornery! I thought it was bad yesterday when I came out to the kitchen and there was about an inch of water on the floor. Oh yeah. They were supposed to be watching a Thomas the train movie. (have I mentioned that my girls are SO not entertained by television in general? – You’d think with it only being on for 1h a day, that the novelty of it would be at least mildly entertaining – nope). They were dancing around in it when I found them. Anyway, yes I made them clean it up by themselves.
So if that weren’t bad enough… this morning some unknown culprit (we believe it was Louisa but can’t say for sure) flung an entire bowl of oatmeal all over the dining room. It was on the table, floor, walls, chairs… yuck yuck yuck. Since I’m not sure who it was I couldn’t make anyone clean it up. It’s never a good day when the mop is out before 7:45.
Aren’t you glad you aren’t me?

(ma – it works!)

I’ve been playing with a new software program that my parents gave me – what do you think? I’m lovin it.
Anyway. I taught another class at the store last night. I had some new faces and some familiar faces. I love it when people take a class, and come back for the next class. It’s nice to have “regulars”.
I started a project for my scrap club yesterday. (That’s a group of friends from church that are all crafty and decided to get together for regular craft nights) I said I’d put a few little things together that people could make during our get togethers. Basically just an abbreviated version of the class that I teach – but I get to use stuff that didn’t come from the store. Nice.
I really need to clean my house. But what fun is that?

Stuff

Yesterday Miss Louisa decided she was potty trained. (Hallelujah!) She went on the potty 5-6 times (beating the old record by well… 5 or 6 times). Not one accident all day long. And right before I put her diaper on for bedtime she POOPED in the potty! I am so psyched for that little tater head. Now she can teach her sister and I’m off the hook. Heh. Now if I could get them to stop fighting over who gets to sit in my lap I’d be set.
I made the yummiest oatmeal raisin cookies yesterday. I’ve been trying to expand my dessert repertoire lately. Don’t get me wrong, all those cakes were yummy, I just feel like I should have a few good cookie recipes under my belt, oh and pies too, I still haven’t quite gotten the hang of making pie crust from scratch (Just buy it at the store like everyone else does, I know) But what fun would that be? Besides, that’s cheating, and we don’t cheat in this house. Not on deserts anyway.
What else… I’m so annoyed that The Office wasn’t on last night. I’m having withdrawal issues I knew I should have taped some of those episodes “just in case”. Sigh.

End of summer sha-bang

So Labor day weekend has come and gone. The last weekend of summer. Of course we had to go to the lake. I’m sure I would have had a mutiny on my hands if I hadn’t. I took the kids out on Sunday after church and had a fab time playing on the beach. The kids played in the water (brr?) and I played with my dad’s spanky new camera which I truly had no idea how to use, but that’s ok. On Monday Jory, my sister and Bill all came out for a while. Jory and I snuck out and went into town for a little adventure, while everyone else played (and ate!) without us. All in all, it was a fun weekend, I took a bazillion pictures, but of course they’re still on my dad’s camera so you’ll just have to wait. Don’t hold your breath.
